Ransomware is a malicious software that allows hackers to restrict or Deny access to an individual’s or company’s vital information or PC’S and demand some form of payment (usually Bitcoins) to lift the restriction.

A Bitcoin is a new currency that was created in 2009 by an unknown person using the alias Satoshi Nakamoto. These types of Transactions are made with no middle men – meaning, no banks! There are no transaction fees and no need to give your real name.

  • 209 million dollars WAS paid in the first quarter of 2016 to cyber-criminals

  • 1 billion Dollars IS estimated by FBI to be the total of paid loses in 2016

  • 72% of companies affected by ransomware could not access THEIR data for 2 days following an attack

  • Read all unsolicited email carefully

  • Look for the “security Lock” on web sites

  • Avoid “ADS” or advertisements
